About
Ernie Ginsler
Ernie Ginsler
has spent his entire working life involved in the voluntary sector
as a volunteer, employee, board member, and now as a consultant.
Over the last thirty years Ernie has worked in the area of community
and organizational development and social planning in Halifax, Toronto,
and Kitchener in every facet imaginable. He has worked in three
Social Planning Councils and was the Executive Director in Kitchener-Waterloo
for seventeen years. He chaired the Board of the Ontario Social
Development Council and the Ontario Committee of Social Planning
Councils, and has taught Organizational Management at York University,
Social Policy and Planning at the University of Waterloo School
of Urban and Regional Planning, and Canadian Social Welfare at Wilfrid
Laurier University. He currently holds Adjunct Faculty status at
the University of Waterloo.
In the area
of organizational management, Ernie taught the course on Strategic
and Operational Planning for the National Certificate Program in
Voluntary Sector Management, he is the author of a number of publications
on non-profit management including manuals on strategic planning,
board orientation, hiring and evaluating executive directors, merging
non-profits, and others, which are distributed across Canada and
the United States. Ernie is currently a contributor to the E-Newsletter,
Nonprofit
Boards and Governance Review. On behalf of the national Voluntary
Sector Initiative, Ernie recently created an on-line toolbox of
resources to assist voluntary organizations to become more active
in the government policy development process.
Before creating
the consulting firm Ginsler and Associates Inc. in 1997, Ernie was
Vice-President Allocations and Community Services for the United
Way of Greater Toronto, where he was responsible for the allocation
of an annual fund of $34 million.
